In just 3 more weeks I will be on my way to Brussels, Belgium for an 89 day visit! As a member of the family I will be staying with said, "Your arrival has seemed "a long way off" when we have chatted about it. Now it is nearly here..." That's exactly it! It seems like just a few days ago that I was contemplating and praying about the whole idea, and now it's 3 weeks away from actually happening!
It's hard to believe I will be approximately 4,061 miles (as the crow flies anyhow!) from home for nearly 3 months. I sure am going to miss everybody and everything! I honestly try not to think about that part too much because that makes it hard. Nevertheless, I believe that had I not decided to go, I would end up in some way like Jonah. :-) The way the whole trip has come together and the ways God has been preparing and filling me with excitement for this trip has helped me trust that this is all in His hands and whatever and however everything happens, it will be okay and meant to be. The times I have begun to feel anxious or nervous about the whole thing, I've turned to the Bible and prayer and have received a "peace that transcends all understanding".
As my departure date approaches, if you think of me, please pray that I would continue to be excited and peace-filled about the whole thing and that all the planning and packing goes smoothly. It's quite a job! :-)
I'll conclude with a bit of interesting Belgium info...
*** Brussels, Belgium time is 6 hours ahead of our Eastern Standard Time. That means that though I will be arriving to Brussels, Belgium at 10:25 their time, it will be 4:25 a.m. my time. :-) Pretty cool how all that works!
*** The country of Belgium is bordered by the Netherlands, Germany, Luxemburg, and France, with a short coastline on the North Sea.
*** Official Belgium Languages are French, Dutch, and German (and thankfully it sounds like a lot of people speak English as well. :-)
