Happy Easter and Happy Birthday Rebecca Petrie! April 4, 2010

HAPPY EASTER! I was surprised to find of lovely Easter basket with my name on it and filled with delicious Belgian chocolates! Mmmmm... what a gift! Easter chocolate will never be the same again...
At about the time everybody back in Ohio was waking up and getting ready for Easter morning breakfast, sunrise service, egg-hunting, and candy-eating, we were sitting down for a delicious Easter feast around a gorgeous table set with silver and crystal! Amazing!
Then it was time to CELEBRATE Rebecca's birthday! It is so much fun to celebrate a birthday with somebody who enjoys them! :-) We are all very thankful for Rebecca's birth into the world and it was a privilege to celebrate the day with her and the family!
Pierre is one of the nurses who comes to help care for Rebecca twice a day (there is a rotation of different nurses that come and help with bathing and dressing each day). On the day after Rebecca's birthday, Pierre arrived dressed up as a clown with an accordion, which he played for Rebecca ("Happy Birthday" and some other songs...)! We were thoroughly entertained and impressed! Pierre just finished "training" to be a clown at a children's hospital here in Belgium. I must say that I have seen quite a few nurses come in and out of the Petrie household during my stays here, but this was certainly the most entertaining nurse visit I have ever experienced! :-)
Paul and Rebecca Petrie and myself. What a privilege!
